DESCRIPTION: Length Up to 4mm. A weevil that is best identified by its host plant, light tibiae, white spots on the elytra that can fade and the lack of a tooth on the underside of the front femora. A similar species Parethelcus pollinarius has a dark tibiae and a large tooth on the underside of the front femur. It also has a projection on the side of the pronotum and is found on the same host plant. DISTRIBUTION: Widely distributed throughout the UK and quite common. HABITAT: On the leaves and stems of the Common Nettle. PERIOD: March to July. |
